ABOUT FERN

It all started when...

I found my first deck of tarot cards on my OE in the early 1970's at the British Museum.

I've been practicing my twin passions of Astrology and Tarot for nearly 40 years. I am a professional reader, teacher, consultant, writer and educator in both disciplines. Auckland city, New Zealand is my home base.

Tarot and Astrology are ancient language systems that can bring insight and healing into our modern lives. I use and teach these disciplines in the old traditions of divination (fortune-telling) as well as a meditative and mentoring path to self-understanding.

I have a Bachelor of Arts in History and English from Otago University (1968). I discovered tarot in the early 1970s whilst in Europe and my first deck of cards was a 16th century woodcut reprint.

I practised as a consultant for many years before I began teaching both Astrology and Tarot in 1990. I became an 0900 tarot phone worker on the first 0900 line (Smilelines) during the 1990's and was also a script writer for a variety of telephone lines.

My year-long Diploma Tarot Course has been running for 21 years (1995-2016) and is particularly popular and absorbing. It is suitable for all tarot players - beginners and old hands enjoy the group experience and learning. Many students return for a second or third year, as they love having other tarot people to talk the language and share readings.

I have been a Star Signs columnist for many publications including The Sunday Star Times and Rainbow News, and contributed to books, magazines and other publications.

I have appeared on many TV shows including TVNZ's The Profilers and also been a regular contributor on Radio Shows on Kiwi FM and 95bFM.

I am also involved in tarot art and art history and organising events or tours that celebrate these. I have organised a variety of National Conferences and Symposiums in both Astrology and Tarot.

I was co-organiser of the first Tarot Art Extravaganza arcana 2006 that showcased tarot artwork from 60 NZ artists, including painters and photographers, fashion and costume designers, mosaic, tattoo, graffiti and textile artists.

I have travelled extensively in my work, as an International Presenter at Conferences in U.S.A, France and Italy as well as on teaching tours around Australia and New Zealand.
